South Korea Flags Details
This South Korea flag for sale is perfect for the front of your house, building, or business. The 3x5 size is big enough to grab the attention of everyone walking or driving by. You can set these flags up indoors and outdoors thanks to the high-quality materials. The material is an outdoor-tested polyester fabric, which is knitted and tear-resistant to prevent it from tearing. No matter the weather, this will have a long flag life. This is also guaranteed by the printing process. We use a modern dye sublimation method, which infuses the ink into the fabric. Not only does this create striking colors, but it also prevents the print from peeling off the fabric. The design is printed on one side of the material and bleeds through to the other side, which is the common practice for state and country flags. Add on either a handheld or mounted pole set to your order to properly display the flag. Let everyone see your love for our country and buy South Korean flags.

South Korean Flag History
Before the 1880s, Korea did not have a national flag, only a royal standard. The lack of a flag became an issue when negotiating a treaty with Japan. By 1880, foreign negotiations made it necessary to have a country flag. Around 1882, it was suggested adding the Taegeuk symbol and trigrams to the design because they were traditional symbols. The design was worked on and eventually became the national flag in 1883. The Korean flag was outlawed by Japan during their rule but returned to be used by the southern part of the country when it became a republic under the United States in the 1940s. When the South Korean state was established in 1948 after gaining independence from Japan, the Taegukgi (the name of the flag) was officially the flag of South Korea by 1949. There was a slight alteration when the black bars, or trigrams, on the side shifted their positions in 1950. The dimensions were codified in 1984 and the precise colors of the South Korea flag were established in 1997.
South Korean Flag Meaning
White: The background represents how white is a traditional Korean color. White is common in Korea’s historical attire and symbolizes purity and peace and reflects how Korea used to be called “Land of the Morning Calm”.
Blue and Red Circle: The circle in the center of the South Korea flag is known as a Taegeuk. It’s meant to represent the earth with blue being the sky and red being the land. This shows the duality of the world and comes from the yin-yang used in philosophy.
Trigrams: The black bars surrounding the Taegeuk are known as trigrams. They symbolize movement and harmony with each one representing one of the four elements: geon (heaven), gon (earth), gam (moon), and ri (sun). They also represent the four directions and the four seasons, among other things. They come from Confucian principles.
