Missouri State Flag Details
Have a Missouri flag for sale greet visitors when they enter your home or business. These MO state flags are built for all kinds of locations due to the well-made material and the high-quality print. The flag fabric is a lightweight, knitted polyester that’s tested for indoor and outdoor use. The tear resistance of the material keeps it from ripping when exposed to different elements. One side of the fabric is printed with the artwork and the reverse image bleeds through to the other side for maximum visibility. We use a modern dye sublimation method, which infuses the ink directly into the fabric so it will not scratch or peel off the flag. We also have the option for including hardware with your order. Choose from either a handheld flagpole for carrying the flag around or a wall-mounted flagpole for stabilizing the flag on a flat surface. The grommet finishing on the side is for connecting the flag to the hardware. These state of Missouri flags are ideal additions to front porches, outside offices, inside stores, and much more.

Missouri State Flag History
Missouri’s first state flag was created in 1861 as an order from Major-General Sterling Price. Similar to the current flag, the old flag design had the state’s seal, except it was in gold on a light blue background. This Missouri flag, however, was relinquished in 1865. The Flag Act of 1913 brought in the current design of the state flag. The wife of a former senator and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Marie Elizabeth Oliver, created the new flag design in 1908 and tried to get the state legislature to adopt it. Bills for the flag failed and her original flag made from paper was burned in 1911. Oliver created a new silk flag in that was finally adopted by the state in 1913 with the Oliver Flag Bill. The artwork of the MO flag created by Oliver has remained unchanged since it became official.
Missouri Flag Meaning
Red, White, and Blue Stripes: The stripes stand for valor, purity, vigilance, and justice. The also refer to when Missouri was part of French Louisiana as they are colors associated with the French flag.
State Seal: In the center of Missouri’s seal is the seal for the U.S. on the right and state symbols on the left. The bear is for bravery while the crescent moon is a reference to France and the Virgin Mary, representing newness and growth. This middle circle is surrounded with the motto, “United we stand, divided we fall”. Two large bears are on each side of the seal because bears are native to Missouri. The scroll contains the state motto in Latin, which translates to “Let the welfare of the people be the supreme law.” Above the seal is a helmet to stand for sovereignty.
24 Stars: These stars circle around the seal of the Missouri state flag because Missouri was the 24th state of the Union.
