Costa Rica Flags Details
Place your country’s flag where all can see it with a 3x5 Costa Rica flag for sale. These flags are perfect for indoor and outdoor settings due to the long-lasting material and high-quality print. The flag is made from outdoor-tested polyester, which is a knitted material resistant to tearing. This allows the flag to endure all kinds of weather and elements. We print the design on one side of the flag and the mirror image bleeds through to the other. The ink is ingrained into the fabric to prevent the print from scratching and peeling off the flag, giving it a longer flag life. Choose between getting the flag alone or adding on either a handheld flagpole or a mounted pole set. The flag is easily assembled on a pole due to the grommet finishing on the side. Set up Costa Rica’s flag in front of your home, building, or store so everyone who passes by will see it.

Costa Rica Flag Meaning
Costa Rica had several flags before it settled on the modern design. Because the country was once part of the Spanish Empire, many of the empire’s flags used to be Costa Rica’s. After the country separated from Spain, it formed the Federal Republic of Central America. At this time, Costa Rica used a flag like Argentina’s. This flag belonged to the republic. After the Federal Republic ended, Costa Rica’s flags were like the previous flag with light blue stripes on the top and bottom, white in the middle, and the coat of arms. The wife president José María Castro Madriz suggested that the flag be changed in 1848 to add a red stripe inspired by France’s flag. The blue stripes were also made darker. Over time, the coat of arms has been adjusted on the flag several times and moved off center. The current flag that has the coat of arms was last modified in 1998.
Costa Rica Flag Colors
Dark Blue: The top and bottom blue stripes represent several things. The blue symbolizes the sky, but also stands for idealism, opportunities, and perseverance.
White: The two white stripes stand for peace, wisdom, and happiness.
Red: The red stripe in the middle of the Costa Rica flags represents the blood from the martyrs that fought for the country. It is also meant to symbolize warmth and generosity.
Coat of Arms: The variant of the flag that includes the shield has been derived from several coat of arms. The civil flag does not include the shield. The modern emblem used today is like one used in 1948. There are three volcanoes that refer to Costa Rica’s volcanic ranges: Irazu, Poas, and Arenal. The green valley on the shield represents the valleys between the country’s mountain ranges. The two parts of water symbolize the Atlantic and Pacific oceans with the ship standing for the ports of the country. The seven stars in the sky symbolize Costa Rica’s seven provinces.
