Colorado State Flag Details
Display a Colorado flag for sale in front of your home, building, event, or business. Designed from strong, outdoor-tested flag polyester, these flags are lightweight and tear-resistant for all kinds of weather. The dye sublimation printing process infuses the ink into the fabric to prevent the artwork from scratching or peeling off. Our printing technique also results in striking, full colors. The graphics are printed on one side of the material and the mirror image bleeds through to the other side, which is the common format for state flags. Easily install your flag on a flagpole with the grommet finishing on the sides. If you need hardware for assembling your flag, add either a handheld pole set or a wall mounted pole kit to your purchase. The handheld option is great for parades while the wall mounted version installs the flag on the wall of a building or home. These flags are a great way to show your pride for Colorado.

Colorado Flag History
When Colorado first became a state in 1876, a blue flag with the state seal was originally used. An official state flag, however, was not established until 1907 with a design similar to the 1876 one. The first state flag, however, did not prove to be popular and, unaware that a state flag already existed, the Denver chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution decided to design a state flag. The Daughters of the American Revolution chose a design that also incorporated the state seal, but had red and white stripes in the background rather than blue. This CO flag was also unpopular, and a new design with blue and white stipes and a “C” in the left was submitted instead. This flag was adopted as the state flag in 1911 and proved to be liked more than its predecessors. The size of the “C” and the color shades were not specified, so an official description was added in 1929. In 1964, it was decided to make the “C” larger and more centered, so the change and the current Colorado state flag design was adapted.
Colorado Flag Meaning
Large “C”: The big “C” represents three things – “Colorado”, “centennial” because the state joined the Union on the U.S.’s 100th anniversary year, and the state flower “columbine”.
Red: The red coloring used for the “C” represents the “ruddy” earth of the state’s soil. Gold: The golden yellow disc in the center of the “C” symbolizes the state’s sunshine and the gold mining industry.
Blue: The top and bottom blue stripes of the Colorado state flag refer to the sky. White: The middle white stripe has two meanings – the top of the Rocky Mountains and the silver mining industry.
