Wyoming State Flag Details
Get a Wyoming flag for sale for your front porch, outside your business, or anywhere else you want to showcase your state pride. These flags are designed to last due to the durable, weather-resistant material, and print. The flag is made from outdoor polyester, which is knitted and lightweight for tear-resistance so the wind, rain, and other elements don’t destroy the fabric. We print the artwork on one side of the flag and the reverse image bleeds through to the other side, saving printing costs. The design is printed on the material using a modern dye sublimation method, which infuses the ink into the fabric rather than recreating it on top of the material. This results in vivid color reproduction and a print that won’t scratch or peel off, making it perfect for outdoor display. If you need a pole set for displaying your flag, add either a wall mounted or handheld flagpole to your order. Place a state flag of Wyoming anywhere you wish to show your patriotism.

Wyoming Flag History
The Wyoming state flag was created through a contest. In 1916, the Sons of the American Revolution in Wyoming ran a contest for the public. Verna Keays submitted the winning design of the bison flag. Governor Robert D. Carey made the flag official by law in 1917. The original design had the bison facing the fly, but it was suggested the bison face the hoist by SAR regent Grace Raymond Hebard to make the artwork look more balanced in the wind. This has been how the flag of Wyoming has been printed since, but the change has never been officially stated in legislation.
Wyoming Flag Meaning
Red: The red border symbolizes the blood shed by the pioneers and Native Americans of the state.
White: The white bison and border of the Wyoming state flag stand for purity.
Blue: The blue background is meant to represent the sky, mountains, and justice.
Bison: There is a tradition in the West of branding animals, so the state seal is over the bison silhouette to look like a brand. The bison is also a local animal of Wyoming.
State Seal: The seal includes the motto “Equal rights” because Wyoming was the first state to sign equal rights for women into documentation. There is a miner and a cowboy on each side as they were the two main occupations of the state. The ribbon reads “Livestock, mines, grain, oil”, also referring to the state’s trades. An eagle is on the shield with the number 44 because Wyoming was the 44th state added to the Union.
