Arkansas State Flag Details
Display an Arkansas flag for sale in front of your home or business for everyone to see. These flags are designed for all kinds of locations due to their outdoor-tested material and printing. Our flags are made from outdoor polyester, which is a lightweight, tear-resistant material that holds up in different weather conditions. The artwork is printed on the state flag of Arkansas using a dye sublimation technique where the ink is infused into the fabric to prevent the colors from scratching and peeling off. The graphics are printed on one side of the material and bled through to the other side, which is the common format for state flags. If you need hardware to assemble your flag, add either a wall mounted or handheld pole set to your order. The flag is finished with grommets on the side for easy installation. Show your love for your home state with these AR state flags.

Arkansas Flag History
The flag was created in 1912 when the Daughters of the American Revolution group in Pine Bluff wanted an official state flag to give to the USS Arkansas battleship. They learned there was no Arkansas state flag and created a contest to design one. The design created by Willie K. Hocker, one of the members of the Arkansas Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Hocker’s design didn’t have the word “Arkansas” at first, but it was added by the committee. It was adopted by the legislature in 1913. The first design had three stars, but a fourth one was added in 1923. The stars were originally arranged with two above the word “Arkansas” and two below. This was changed in 1924 when the fourth star was added above “Arkansas” with the other three below. More modifications were done in 2011 to fix the colors so they matched the red and blue used in the USA flag.
Arkansas Flag Meaning
Diamond: The diamond in the middle of the AR flag stands for Arkansas being “the only diamond-bearing state in the Union.” While this has since been proven false, it was in reference to the Crater of Diamonds State Park.
25 Star Border: The border around the diamond includes 25 stars, representing Arkansas being the 25th state of the Union.
Top Star: The single star above the name “Arkansas” stands for the Confederacy, which Arkansas was once a part of during the Civil War.
Three Bottom Stars: There are different meanings attributed to these stars. One is that they stand for France, Spain, and the U.S., all nations the state once belonged to. Another is that they represent 1803, when the Louisiana Purchase was bought which included Arkansas. The final meaning is that Arkansas was the third state formed after the Louisiana Purchase.
